Verification & Production Access

Understand your verification status and what it unlocks in the Developer Portal.

Overview

New Developer Portal accounts start Unverified. You can create apps and build and test in the Developer Sandbox right away.

Production takes two gates:

  1. Verify your organization, once. You apply as a Private Developer or a Marketplace Partner. A Procore customer building for its own company is verified as a Customer instead.
  2. Clear a per-app gate — Private Developers and Marketplace Partners only.

The Developer Sandbox is always available. Verification gates production only.

Verified: Customer

For a Procore customer building an integration for its own company’s internal use.

You don’t select this role. Apply as a Private Developer and describe the app as internal; the reviewer assigns Customer when your domain belongs to a Procore customer. Verification then covers every app your domain owns, with no per-app gate.

This role doesn’t apply to building for someone else’s Procore account (that’s Private Developer) or to anything sold or reused across customers (that’s Marketplace Partner).

Verified: Private Developer

For a consultant, contractor, or systems integrator building under contract for one client. The integration is a deliverable, bound to the client’s Procore account, and never listed on the Marketplace.

Apply as a Marketplace Partner instead if:

  • You’re building a product or SaaS, even if only one customer uses it today.
  • You’re piloting with one customer before listing publicly.
  • The integration could be sold, licensed, or reused across customers.

Requirement: a description of your app’s use cases.

To get verified: select Apply to Become Verified (Private Developer) in the Developer Portal. You get an email when you’re approved.

Verified: Marketplace Partner

For organizations distributing apps commercially on the Procore Marketplace, including those piloting with one customer first. This role unlocks the Marketplace listing tools.

Requirements: completed technical feasibility and a signed Partnership Agreement.

To get verified: select Apply to Become a Marketplace Partner in the Developer Portal. You get an email with next steps. See Technology Partner Overview.

Get to Production

Step 1: Verify your organization

Verification requires a business email address. Personal addresses such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook.com aren’t accepted.

Until you’re verified, a Become a Verified Developer prompt replaces the production options in your app dashboard. Verification happens once per organization.

An app’s production access follows its owner’s verification, not its collaborators’.

Step 2: Request production access per app

Customers skip this step. For the other two roles, each app clears one gate, and the review behind it differs:

  • Private Developer — Request Production Credential Access. An attestation that the app complies with the API Terms of Use and User Terms of Service. Procore doesn’t review the app, and approval says nothing about its quality or security.
  • Marketplace Partner — Request App Certification. A detailed review of the app, including a technical review. Customers installing from the Marketplace rely on it. See Prepare for the Marketplace and the Marketplace Approval Checklist.

Until approval, the app can’t be installed in a customer’s production environment. The exception is a single-customer Marketplace pilot, which can run before certification. Arrange it with the Marketplace team at [email protected].

Each new app needs its own request.
